Day 1Arrive at Presidente Nicolau Lobato Airport. Settle into your hotel, then head to Areia Branca beach for a swim. In the late afternoon, walk the scenic 3km coastal path to Cristo Rei, the 27m statue of Christ on the headland east of the city, timing it for sunset over Dili Bay.
Day 2Start early at Tais Market to see traditional textiles being woven. Visit the Resistance Museum to understand Timor-Leste's extraordinary independence story. Lunch at a local warung, then explore the waterfront and Dili's Portuguese-era cathedral.
Day 3Morning trip to Tasi Tolu, three sacred lakes just west of Dili, set against a mountain backdrop. Stop at the monument commemorating independence. Return to the city for souvenir shopping and a farewell lunch of ikan sabuko (grilled fish) before your flight.
