Viqueque

Viqueque municipality stretches from the central mountains to the remote southern coast, encompassing some of Timor-Leste's most dramatic and least-visited landscapes. The highland town of Ossu is home to one of the country's most striking colonial-era churches, while the lowlands offer rice paddies, river valleys, and wild coastline.

The road south from Baucau to Viqueque passes through spectacular mountain scenery, crossing the central ranges before descending into the broad Viqueque river valley. The municipality was an important base during the resistance era.
